Xen Tan Face Tanner Luxe
I LOVE this product. I firmly believe that this is the best fake tan face tanner on the market. It gives a fantastic color that actually smells good, doesn't cause breakouts, it's easy to apply and work with, long lasting, fades evenly, and most of all looks like a real tanner (not orange at all).
If you want to learn more about this Face Tanner Luxe then keep reading!
Details & Photos will be below.
How did I find it: I heard about Xen Tan from Tanya or Pixi2woo on YouTube. She mentioned in a video about favorite fake tans for the face. At that point, I was getting really into self tanning and decided to research the product. I included a photo of the back of the bottle for you to look at.
Here are some of the key facts:
- Oil Free
- I have not had any break outs from using this product.
- Comes in two shades (Light/Medium or Medium/Dark)
- I use the Medium/Dark for the darkest color. I also finds that my body tan stays darker MUCH longer so this helps match. The Medium/Dark also contains a color guard and the Light/Medium does not.
- Gently exfoliates your face so that the color stays smooth
- I still scrub beforehand, but I think this is what helps the color fade evenly
- Develops in a short timespan (bottle says 3 hours)
- I usually will sleep with this on, as I find the color is much darker
- Contains no dimethicone
- This was important to me because I have trouble using products on my face that contain a high amount of dimethicone which is a silicone used in many products.
How to use it:
I like to first exfoliate my face & neck. My favorite scrub to use is the Kiehl's Milk, Honey & Almond Scrub. This scrub contains gritty but NOT abrasive particles. I find that when I use this scrub (compared to my others) that the color looks the darkest and fades the slowest. I think this is because it really polishes my skin. However, any scrub that you like will be fine. Just make sure NOT to use something oil based! This could cause streaks & unevenness.

This is the order of my routine:
- Wash & Exfoliate (This is VERY important)
- Make sure skin is 100% dry
- I squeeze out about a nickel size onto my fingers.
- I will start on my cheeks & nose & ears (yep tan those ears!)
- I will do around my mouth & chin & jawline
- Next, I will do my forehead & hairline (don't be afraid to get it in your hairline or else you will see that fake tan line!
- I will usually repeat steps 3-6 again if I want to be very dark. This is just my preference, you do not have to do this.
- Lastly, I will go over my neck & throat so that my face & neck are the same color.
- You are done! Make sure not to get your face wet OR use any other products on your face. The bottle says you can use it under makeup but I prefer not to.
All in all, I think this is an excellent product for those who are new to tanning or advanced! It is really hard to goof it up if you follow my tips above. If you have any other tips for me & other beauty readers, feel free to share below!
Bottom line: Xen Tan is my favorite self tan brand and is the only brand that I use. I am so happy with the results I get from this line, that I don't find the need to check out brands. I use the Dark Lotion & Mousse for my body, as well as the tanning mitt they make. Posts of these products will be up in the near future.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the review! I have been looking for a face self tanner that I can use every night/day instead of my body self tanner. In response to your comment on my blog.. I would love to button swap! Also, I looked at pictures of Circe on different blogs and then I went to Ulta to buy it, but I couldn't find it. :(

Heya, I just discovered your blog, it's awesome! You're so pretty too!! I would love it if you would have a little mooch around my blog and see if you like it, you have a new follower :) I would love if you would tell me whether the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation is like coverage wise because I saw you have it...xx
ReplyDeleteHey Natasha! Thanks for the nice comments! Laura Mercier Silk Creme is my other favorite foundation. I use it mostly in the fall/winter months because it is moisturizing AND it is fuller coverage than True Match. It is also a different consistency too. I highly recommend it! I plan to do a post in the near future how great it is. It is one of those products that all the beauty world raves about and for good reason! :)
DeleteSounds like a great product!!
ReplyDeleteAdore your blog name - I love a good purple shampoo!
ReplyDeleteGreat fake tanning tips. I'm a huge fan of Kiehl's but have never tried the scrub, it sounds like it would smell AMAZING!

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all those info!

I have the light/medium version without the instant tint. I like the results, but I just wish it had absolutely no silicone because it breaks me out even if there's not a lot of it. These have cyclomethicone in them, which is a form of silicone.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this comment! I realized the error I made by stating "silicones" instead of "dimethicone". Dimethicone is the specific silicone that can could breakouts for me. I updated the post to reflect this! Thank you for pointing that out!
DeleteThis is such a good post I used to use St Tropez on my face and it used to go all patchy and sink into dry spots so this is one to try for me thank you! Where can you get Xen-Tan from? xx
ReplyDeleteloveontopxo.blogspot.com
Thank you!! In the US you can buy it at Ulta, Nordstorm & Online. I'm not sure where in the UK but I went on their facebook and found this store locator for you

I LOVE this face tanner as well! I purchased last winter and fell in love with it as well. Have you tried Million Dollar Tan Cabana Tan Extreme lotion? It is great and gives an awesome tan. I like to use it on my face especially because my face always fades faster too.
