Hi all! I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Today's post will be about Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer. Now before we go any farther, I want to let you know that this is a negative review. I debated writing this review because I know many ladies are huge fans of this. But, I am not a fan of this product and have given it multiple chances to work for me. Sadly it hasn't. This is a widely raved about product throughout the beauty world. I really wanted to love it, but I didn't. Thumbs down.
DISCLAIMER: I don't really like hating on products, but when I have a negative experience with a product repeatedly, I want to share it with others. I want to note that just because this didn't work for me, it doesn't mean it won't work for you. Remember that if you ARE a fan of this product that is fine too! These are my personal opinions.
What do I like?
- Packaging
- I do like the sponge applicator idea. In a way it does the blending for you. I know some have talked about the hygiene concern with this.
- I also like that I can see exactly how much product is left
- No scent
What don't I like?
- Creases
- This product creases horribly on me. I have tried so many different ways of applying it and every time...creases! I have used different brushes, the sponge applicator and even my fingers...nothing worked!
- Treatment product?
- Maybelline claims that this product contains ingredients that help with dark circles and puffiness. I didn't notice any difference over the period of testing it multiple times.
- Coverage
- I don't have awful dark circles, but I do need concealer. It's tough to find a color that is opaque enough to cover blue/purple under eye circles. This was a huge downside...I kept having to do more and more layers.
- Drying on the eye area
- This dried out the skin under my eyes which probably encouraged creasing
Overall, I just didn't dig it! I have heard so many great things about this so my expectations were super high. I was very disappointed and I have been lately with Maybelline. The extreme creasing and lack of coverage were the dealbreakers for me.
I would not personally recommend this to family or friends. I will be doing an upcoming post on my favorite eye concealers that blow this one out the water. Stay tuned!
Thanks for reading,
Carly

I fully agree with you! I have been using the same concealer routine for almost a year, and after all these raves on Youtube about how wonderful it is, I bought it. I have really bad under eye circles, and I didn't think this even began to cover them! I don't expect the world from concealers because I know how terrible my circles are, but for as raved about as this was, I didn't think it was too special!

Thanks for the comment Kelsey! It sounds like you had a very similar experience to what I had. I had high hopes too...maybe too high...but it was soooo raved about!

Hi LolaRose, thanks for the comment. I appreciate your kind words...I decided from the start that I wanted to do honest negative reviews too!
DeleteI have not tried this product.. but thanks for the heads up! I don't like writing negative reviews either but I like to share my experience with products.. good or bad.. that is what a blog is for... your personal opinion!
ReplyDeleteI'm still addicted to my Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer.. have you tried that before?

Hi Brittany, I agree with you! I like to share my honest experience...good or bad. No I haven't tried that yet! I was looking into it. I have been using the Mac Prolong wear under my eyes and have really been liking the coverage. Is the BB good?? Do tell!
DeleteIt's so discouraging writing a negative review, but honestly they help just as much as positive ones! I've been wanting to try this but you may have saved me some money :) Do you mind me asking what your skin type is? :)

Hey! Thanks for the nice comment. Thank you so much for reading all my posts...you are great! Thanks for the support too :)
DeleteI have had the same experience with this stuff and I totally agree that it was extremely drying for me, too. I'd love to try that Bobbi brown creamy concealer! I just haven't found my hg concealer. I have the garnier eye roller and Mac prolongwear concealer but both are ''meh'. I'd love recommendations! :)
ReplyDeleteDarn on not liking it! I do love seeing reviews on products that don't work though. It really is as helpful as the good product reviews!
ReplyDeleteThanks Miranda! It's always tough to write a review on something that everyone loves and you don't, but I always make sure to look for good/bad when I am interested in something new!
DeleteI'm really glad you wrote this because I have been thinking about buying this product! Creasing is a big issue for me in general because my skin is very dry and thin, so thanks for your honest review!
ReplyDeleteIt does suck to write negative reviews, but somebody's gotta do it :)

Hi TiffanyNicole, thanks for stopping by! Yes, creasing with this (for me!) was awful. I will be doing a post soon about a product I am really digging that doesn't crease and has the coverage. I have dry & thin under eye skin too!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog from a blog hop and i am liking your blog! keep up the good work! ^^
Thanks Zara!
DeleteI've loved this product for so long but lately not so much! It just doesn't seem to cover up my dark circles!
ReplyDeleteHi Tawny, I wanted to love this but I agree...it didn't cover much at all. So disappointing.
